System keeps shutting off intermittently. Found that safety switch on condensation line is shutting the condenser off after a longer run period due to slow moving primary drain line. Checked drain line and it appears to be clear and draining correctly, but there is no secondary drain line coming off of coil. Secondary port on coil goes straight into the drain pan, and then triggers the safety switch. Went over findings and recommendations with homeowners. They do not want to invest more money into it as they hardly ever use it and summer is coming to an end. System is operational upon departure, but switch can possibly still be triggered every now and then.
Arrived on site to perform diagnostic on 15 year old guardian unit. Homeowner states system is not blowing cold air. Indoor unit is running and blowing air, but outdoor unit does not kick on. He has tried replacing the fuses and testing the electrical but has has no luck. Had homeowner kick system on, and system kicked on normally and started cooling. Homeowner would still like me to check system to see if there is any problem on why it wasn’t turning on. Performed full evaluation on system. Checked unit electrical and system components. Secondary motor control is within range. Primary motor control is burnt and pitted at contact points. Amp draws on compressor are within range. Condenser fan motor amp draws are slightly high, and has actually started to leak oil. Checked indoor unit electrical and system components. Indoor unit has no supply or return plenum, return duct just goes straight into the top of blower cabinet. Went over findings and recommendations with homeowners. They a
Upon arrival performed maintenance on a Lennox system. Found filter to be extremely dirty and clogged up. outdoor refrigerant ant levels are in very good condition. Temp splits very good. Washed outdoor coils. Secondary motor control good. Primary motor control in good condition. Amperages throughout system very good. Customer said she heard loud noises from outdoor system. Did not hear anything loud other then initial start up. Indoor motor good. Furnace in good condition. System was reset tested and fully functional upon departure.
Tested system on the cooling mode and measured indoor temperatures. Replaced air filters. Measured outdoor motor starting load and running load. Measured voltages and tested run and start components. Verified refrigerant charge. Cleaned condenser electrical panel and coils
Bring gas line up to code and strap. Enlarge return duct from 14†to 18â€. Modify supply ducting and run new Trunkline duct. Add Trunkline balancing dampeners. Add proper return air plenum. Permits and HERS included. Install compressor sound blanket
Performed ac diagnostic On 2004 goodman condensing unit. Upon my diagnostic I found that the outdoor fan motor was spinning but compressor off. Further investigation showed that inside the service panel the secondary motor control was completely blown in the hermetic side. This was caused due to high amperage pull the compressor. Ultimately the compressors is on borrowed time due to its age and high amperage pull making it a less efficient system and putting it at a higher risk of failing in hot weather. Mr. Merril Ultimately Decided that he rather have a condenser and evaporator coil replacement then to continue to do repairs on an older system. Add it in new secondary motor control as a temporary way to give cooling to the house until new install takes place. Upon departure system is on.
